Il Consorzio del Formaggio Parmigiano Reggiano is a non-profit organization, founded in 1934, that represents and protects the producers of the famous Italian cheese with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). Its main role is to ensure the quality, tradition, and authenticity of Parmigiano Reggiano, one of the most well-known symbols of Italian-made food products around the world. It is one of the oldest and most prized cheeses in the world, made according to an artisanal method passed down for over 1,000 years, without the use of additives or preservatives.
The Consortium’s main goals are:
Protecting the name "Parmigiano Reggiano" in Italy and abroad.
Monitoring production in accordance with PDO regulations.
Promoting the product through marketing, communication, and promotional initiatives.
Fighting counterfeiting and unfair competition.
Providing technical support to dairies and supply chain operators.
Parmigiano Reggiano can only be produced in five Italian provinces, nestled among hills, plains, and culture:
Parma
Reggio Emilia
Modena
Bologna (west of the Reno River)
Mantua (south of the Po River)
Here you can:
