Jurisdiction Junction - Hong Kong as an international and cross-boundary legal hub

On Tuesday, June 10, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and Macao in collaborate with The French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hong Kong hosted a thought-provoking discussion at the French Chamber’s Office. The session focused on the city’s unique strengths under the "one country, two systems" framework, its commitment to the rule of law, and its growing role in cross-border legal cooperation and international arbitration.

Dr Cheung Kwok-kwan, SBS, JP, Deputy Secretary for Justice, and Ms Peggy Au-Yeung, Principal Government Counsel, presented the initiatives by the Department of Justice, HKSAR Government. Our Board Member, Prof Giuliano Castellano, Associate Professor of Law at the University of Hong Kong, and Heidi Chui, Partner at Stevenson, Wong & Co., in a panel discussion decrypted the initiatives by the Hong Kong Department of Justice from both an academic and a practitioner perspective.
